Provide a list of Frequently Used Metadata Types for easy filtering
I often don't know which metadata types I need to include in a comparison so I don't miss anything so I often use Compare All (takes forever!). I'd like to have Gearset suggest filters based on past deployments so I can confidently compare without having to wait a long time.

Update the layout comparison view of Page layouts to reflect custom button/button changes on related lists. Currently XML view only
The layout view does not show custom buttons added to related list/other button changes. This is visible in XML view, the layout view is slightly confusing as a result - The "Select all" tick at the top is present, but no other tick boxes, making it unclear what you are selecting unless you use XML view

Date to date filter
A date to date filter so as to ignore anything outside of that time window. Even if it could just be all the changes for one year, that would help.

quote term
For CPQ Quote Term, the name column only shows "Approved" which is not meaningful.
Please switch to using the "Name" field which is a auto generated number (e.g. QT-0209) that is displayed in the user interface and therefore a meaningful identifier.1 vote -

dynamic search function after comparison
dynamic search function
it would be helpful after the comparison to look for multiple components at the same time and not each one individually. for the release we get a list of components example from the developer:
CustomerAddress
CustomerNamec
Customer_Telc
...I want to include the entire list in one search, and I want gerset to search for each row individually. Example in SQL:
SELECT * FROM table
WHERE column1 LIKE '%customeraddress%'
OR column1 LIKE '%customernamec%'
OR column1 LIKE '%customer_telec%'
OR column1 LIKE '%customertele_c%'
...this change would save us…

Remove/Deactivate new feature for batch comparison
A few weeks ago, Gearset added a new feature to officially make the comparison faster, by showing already results of first batch and add the rest later on.
This feature makes it much more difficult to do comparisons. First of all, I don't see any benefit. I still need to wait for the whole comparison to finish, because I still need to now, what has changed. Why should I look into the first things, when I need to look into it again, after the rest is compared. So before I can select anything, I need to wait the whole time…

Show Formula Comparisons line by line
When comparing formulas (in validations, formula fields, workflow criteria...) the comparison should be done line by line.
Considering the whole formula a block and only showing that "something" has changed in the formula is not useful when looking for conflicts between environments.
When pushing changes between environments, admins are checking to make sure they are not overwriting other changes with their update. They most probably know the formula has changed (that was their job) but they need to ensure no unwanted changes are added/deleted from the target environment.
In long formulas with many lines (potentially >100) it's not easy to…

Activity Task Event field level security validation in Profile
Hi Gearset Team,
I would like to have a metadata validation for profile field level security involving Activity, Task, Event object as they are related to each other in Salesforce.
For example:
If we do a retrieve for Activity, Task, Event object along with profile. In the profile metadata it would specify this:
<fieldPermissions>
<editable>true</editable>
<field>Task.FieldX__c</field>
<readable>true</readable>
</fieldPermissions>However, if there were to be a mistake in the profile metadata and we commit them in version control it is detected as a 'new item' in Compare and Deploy
<fieldPermissions>
<editable>true</editable>
<field>Activity.FieldX__c</field>
<readable>true</readable>
</fieldPermissions>When we select this new changes and…

Delegate Access by Comparison
Provide an additional delegate access option: be able to grant this at a comparison level to a user vs at the org level (situation is predominately experienced for Production comparisons/deployments). Granting access at an org level gives too much access (CI jobs, etc) for some users so it would be ideal to have a narrower scope.

Field Dependencies for Reports
When deprecating a field and replacing it with a new one, we need to be able to see where they are used in all reports, including private folders, which the "Where is this used?" feature does not detail.

Add Comparison Column for "Environment"
Add a column for "Environment" which signifies which environment the change took place. For instance, this would tell you whether the changes took place in Production Only, Sandbox Only, or both.
Then, I could filter by Sandbox Only and both to see only the changes I made recently in the sandbox that I need to push to Production. Right now, I have to sift through the many little changes to items that occurred in Production.

Filter Column Sub-Levels
If I filter a column, it does not apply those filters if I open the sub-levels of an item such as "Depends on" or "Used by". For instance, if I filter OUT under the "Difference Type" column "No Difference," when I search through those sub-levels, it should not show me items that are "No difference."

Offer option to auto-limit items in clone comparison
When a deployment is completed, you have an option to clone that package. For many of my deployments, I want to push a package to source control, and then on to production. The second comparison could be limited to just the items in the cloned package. Would be great to have an option to limit second comparison to only the meta-data items in the clone. Would allow subsequent comparisons to run much more quickly, if the user is confident that the package has everything needed for that specific deployment.

Option to ignore package namespaces differences in Apex classes
Our Apex Classes reference multiple managed packages that are updated automatically in our sandbox/production environments. This causes many classes to get picked up unnecessarily in our comparisons/CI deployments between source control (where the managed packages are not committed) and org.
Unlike https://gearset.uservoice.com/forums/283474-help-us-improve-gearset/suggestions/43917792-add-an-option-to-ignore-package-version-difference this is specifically for different package namespaces between the source and target.
In this example the source has one namespace and the target has 2 package namespaces.
It would be very useful to be able to choose to ignore all package differences in comparisons and CI jobs as a team-wide setting.

Create new branch using type-forward / auto-complete from JIRA (or other supported tool)
It would be great if you have JIRA connected, to make it easier to create your branch. So basically type-forward (-ish) functionality to identify a JIRA ticket and take the issue ID and description as branch name.
Say your JIRA ticket is ISSUE-1234 Implement this awesome feature.
The default branch name would be issue-1234-implement-this-awesome-feature.
(Where it reads JIRA could be Azure or any other support tool of course).

Increase the size of the 'Create new branch from...' modal.
When creating a new branch from the 'Create new branch from...' model, it's hard because of the small size of the modal/dialog. Just sizing the modal/dialog larger would make it easier to work with.

Prevent Accidental Backing Out of Deployment components when Deploying Multiple Packages
Sometimes I have multiple packages that have been validated, that I am looking to deploy. If they happen to overlap components, then deploying in the wrong order could back out a change made by the earlier deployment.
From this I came up with two ideas that could help:1) The ability to select multiple validated packages or draft deployments, and click a button that will tell me if they have overlapping components. That will let me know if I have anything to worry about; if they overlap then maybe I should combine them into one package.
2) The ability to…

Ignore "trackHistory" comparison if an Org has "FALSE" and Git does not define this entry
The Salesforce CLI system returns the Custom Field Metadata XML file without a "trackHistory" entry if it is set to false. This XML entry is optional in the Custom Field metadata type. However, once we deploy such metadata to the org and execute compare between a branch and the org again, it shows differences, saying that "trackHistory == false". But is "false" by default. So I would recommend you ignore this entry if SF Org returns FALSE and the VCS file does not have this item.

Pop Out Diff File in Comparisons
The current UI design for comparisons is very unfriendly to smaller screens. When working on a laptop viewing the comparison and the Diff files together is nearly impossible. It would be useful to be able to pop out a diff file or open it in another tab so it can be better viewed.
