If we implemented this and it was only able to search metadata from that point in time onwards, would that be useful or would it be confusing to communicate in the UI?

I have two use cases for this, with one being a bigger problem than the other.

First use case: "When did we last release an update to this item?" Usually, I can check the last modified date in the environment directly. From there, I will click into deployments in the Deployment History that took place around that date and time, and try to determine which Jira card the update was linked to.

Second Use Case: We have too many hands in the cookie jar and are trying to sort it out. Multiple people are working in the same Report Type, and we have asked the team, but we're not getting sufficient responses through traditional communication. My first thought was to search the Setup Audit Trail to see who has recently touched the report type, but that metadata type is not currently tracked in the Setup Audit Trail! Our Gearset monitoring job would be a perfect way to find this out, but I'd have to click into every recent run to check. It would be very helpful to be able to search this type of information, since I don't know the exact date and time all the changes occurred.
