#1 is frustrating because we have to re-select the comparison filter, or reconfigure it if we made any changes on the previous page.
#2 feels like a step backward in terms of UX. There is a "Selected" section in the upper left, but it felt more intuitive to be in the same area as All Items, New, Changed, and Deleted.
