[Data Backup] Allow field filtering on the Job History Search page
The ability to search for a specific record in the data backup Job History search tab is very helpful. As it exists today, you can search by ID or by Value - it appears that if you search by Value, it will try to find any record with that value on some subset of fields for the object chosen. However, if you have a very large dataset, the search takes an extremely long time to execute.
Here is a real world example for my company- we have Person Accounts enabled in our org and have about 9M records. More often…

Allow searching for specific fields in backups
Backups are currently only helpful if we know when an object was changed or deleted. However, we often run into an issue where an object was changed an unknown time ago, we have to spend a lengthy amount of time searching through backups. This is a very, very tedious process as you can't open backup runs in new tabs, so you have to click the link, go back, reset the date filters, and find where you left off. If we could use search criteria to filter data and metadata changes, that would help tremendously!

Ability to Name a Backup Run
It would be great if you could name a backup run.
Sometimes when backing up its handy to label in in case it was done for example before a deployment or large data load. Then this can be identified in the future or to refer back to it. Otherwise you need to remember the date and times! :)
1 voteWe've added friendly names to data backup runs! 🎉
Please get in touch if there's any specific places you would like us to display this friendly name in place of timestamps.

Restore specific Salesforce files from backup
From the user interface, allow a backup user to select and restore a specific file from a backup job.
1 voteYou can now do this via the backup restore process - see https://docs.gearset.com/en/articles/6909509-deploying-contentdocument-contentversion-files-with-gearset

Restore/export certain fields on objects
We (the user) would like to be able to restore data, but only select certain fields to be restored.
Usecase:
A business user triggers some automation that modifies a field or specific fields on a large number of records that should not have been modified. In the meantime, other fields may have been modified that were correctly modified. We would want to restore a set of records from a specific backup, but only the specific fields that should not have been modified.5 votesYou can now select which fields you would like to restore, via the "Restore changed fields within <object name>". Example in the attached image.

export deleted data records in CSV format
We can currently view deleted/removed data records in XML format as a list, but we can't export them into a CSV. This is necessary people who don't have access to Gearset and would be very helpful for users who have difficulty understanding XML.

When creating an account, a user can now choose to create a Gearset team that has data and metadata stored in the Australia.

Allow users with owner role to modify and start backups
Allow designated users the ability to modify and start backups without being the owner of the connected org or the person who created the backup.
5 votesYou can now specify other team members to have permissions to manage and start backup jobs they don’t own.
The current owner of the backup job will need to edit the current job settings, go to the new ‘Permissions’ tab and choose the team member and level of access that you’d like to grant them to manage your backup job.

Export subset of data in data backup
I would like to be able to filter what I want to export from a data backup, since I probably won't need everything from the database. This would make the downloading more manageable.
Ex: Export only ContactID and Email fields from Contact object from a specific backup.
(Restore data seems to allow this, but in this specific case I needed to run some checks in Excel since I couldn't just update everything with the old data)
3 votesYou can now select the object(s) to export for a particular backup run.
Simply go to the backup history for a job, and for a backup run, choose the ‘Download data’ option in the context menu to choose the subset of data that you’d like to export.
