Can't navigate away from Validation in Progress
When I have a deployment or validation in progress, I can click on the main navigation but the page doesn't actually navigate to the target page.
The URL will change in the address bar, but other than that, nothing happens. If we shouldn't be navigating away from the validation progress page during a validation, please include a message in the UI explaining as much and disable the navigation (or have it open in a new window / tab).1 vote -
Objects in deployment report did not deploy - Various Custom Translations
Hey guys -
I am experiencing an issue where i am selecting various custom translations to deploy and the deployment report states deployed, but they are coming up in a new compare and have not been deployed in reality.
These custom translations are recommended to be removed from the deployment in the fixes / recommendations screen. However, i deselect the objects in order to deploy them. Then both validation and deployment succeeds w/ said objects in the deployment report.
Maybe it's something i am doing wrong? I could get on a call to discuss my scenario and run through it…

Ability to schedule deployment past "expiration date"
We sometimes want to schedule a deployment a week or more away. After validating a package, the app has all the information it needs to deploy it, regardless of whether or not the validation expired in SFDC.

Run external tools like PMD as part of Schedule Tests/Monitor Org
PMD tool that does apex code 'quality' measurements would be kind of cool to run (optionally) as part of a regular monitoring/test job. This could be generalized to any external tool

Online help for Manage custom filters
For large Orgs, doing a comparison with the default set of metadata types can take a long time, and so it is necessary to select a smaller subset of metadata types to compare.
However sometimes it is not obvious how a particular configuration change in Salesforce relates to the metadata types in the custom filters dialog, and what dependencies exist between them. For example, after changing "Override" settings in the "Transalation Workbench" in Salesforce, it is not immediately obvious that you need to select both "Custom object" and "Custom object translation" metadata types in Gearset, rather than the "Translations" metadata…

What does the "Unknown" value mean in the Changed By column
How should I interpret the "Unknown" value under the Changed By column when viewing comparisons? In what scenarios would the value Unknown appear? Please advise
1 voteSalesforce does not return the full information for the changed on / by for some metadata items via the API. In these cases you’ll see “Unknown” as the changed by. This is typically components of larger objects, such as fields on a custom object. Gearset shows these as discrete components which can be deployed, but Salesforce generally only returns the changed information for the parent object. We are hoping that over time, Salesforce will improve the reporting of the API to include more information for these sub-components. As soon as it does, we will display that extra information. Allow for test options from Validated Packages tab
After validating a package, the Deploy button under the Validated Packages tab should offer the same test options (No tests, Specify tests, etc.) as it does during the normal deployment workflow.
1 voteThis can now be done by clicking the new Details button on a validation, which will take you to a page which includes the normal deployment workflow button with testing options.

Create CI deployments which only run on demand
Have jobs that run only manually, rather than on time or commit basis.
Specify the source and target and the metadata filter, and save as a preset job. The job can then be triggered to run on demand with a "Run now" button. This means we can safely update our branch until ready to deploy, then don't have to manually compare orgs to push the changes out1 vote -
Add a 'Share Organization' shortcut under 'Actions' in Manage Organizations
For team members without access to a saved organization, the hover tip on the inactive 'Open Draft' button in Draft Deployments reads "You don't currently have permission to edit this draft. Request access from the owner of the source and target credentials".
If the org owner looks under 'Manage Organizations' to remedy this, there's no information on this page indicating how to grant access . Most users on our team are Account Members (not Account Owners), and not familiar with navigating the 'Account' menu options.
Would suggest a 'Share' shortcut under Actions in 'Manage Organizations' to take the org owner…

Exporting Scheduled Test Results to File
We would like to see the ability to export the scheduled test results to PDF or Spreadsheet. This will allow us to associate test results with our internal work items and allow visibility into the test results. I understand that users can view the test results with no license. However, i see value in having the export available; similar to the export of the deployment report.

Ability to create CI jobs from GitHub Enterprise
I expect parity between GitHub and GitHub Enterprise when it comes to creating CI jobs and CI jobs with web hooks.

Add support to run tests that are in a namespace
Add the ability to run tests that are behind a specified namespace. This would allow developers to run their own tests in a test org with other packages installed.

Monitor Orgs feature -- Turn off monitoring for metadata types
Monitoring orgs is great, except for orgs (in my case) that have Site.com Metadata. Each day that the monitoring runs it reports changes because of the MD5 checksum value is changed.
So to see the changes from the monitoring screen I have to click into the org and the monitored job, click into history, then into comparison. When nothing on the org has really changed other than the checksum value it shows differences (which makes sense).
What I would like is the ability to turn of monitoring for this metadata type. Or possibly more than just this type if there…
1 voteWe have removed the Site.com metadata type from the default comparison set, so change monitoring jobs will no longer include this by default.
In addition, when you create your monitoring job, you can specify which metadata filter you’d like to use. This will let you choose exactly which types of metadata to monitor for changes.

It isn't obvious that you can sort by the "selected" column
It isn't obvious that you can sort which items you have selected while inside the "Changed", "Deleted", and "All" tabs of a comparison.
It would be better if you followed common web patterns like those found in GMail with the
...symbol in the column.See attached screenshot for example
1 voteAs you identified, you can sort by selected objects by clicking the header to the right of the select all checkbox.
We’ll have a look to see if we can make this a bit easier to discover.

HTML email template - require Letterhead
Currently when deploying an HTML email template I get an error. This is due to the Letterhead not being present at the target. If I select the letterhead in the source and deploy it along with the HTML email template the deployment succeeds.
It would be nice if Gearset could see this dependency for the Letterhead and prompt to include it as part of the deploy

Desktop Comparison - "Referesion Comparison" does not clear modal background
Using the Gearset Deploy desktop application (specifically for on-disk comparison):
1) Compare environments
2) Wait for loading until comparison view loads
3) In comparison view click "Refresh Comparison"
4) Click "Refresh" in modalResult:
Grey background for the modal remains. No interface elements are clickable.

Display more information when a test method fails during deployment
When a test method fails during a deployment in SF, we get the message and the stack trace. This can be really useful in tracking down the source of the problem.
Gearset currently only gives the name of the method that failed, so extra info would be great. Ideally both the message and the stack trace.
1 voteThis has now been released. If a deployment fails due to a test failure then you’ll get the full stack trace in addition to the failure message. Let me know if there’s anything else you need from that part of the app
