  1. Resolve "Data Owner" User metadata from difference comparisons (always exclude or compare, then exclude)

Salesforce has begun adding User metadata to fields. One good example right now is the "Data Owner" field that appears on all custom fields now (in XML this field is labelled as "BusinessOwnerUser"). The field does not link via a Salesforce ID; it instead displays the Salesforce Username of the user.

Naturally, this field in 99.9% of Salesforce environment comparisons is going to be different. "user@domain.com.sandbox" won't ever match to "user@domain.com" in production-- and it definitely won't ever match to any other Sandbox, either.

This leads to a nightmare scenario where if this field has been…

We have added a problem analyzer to detect and fix the issue with ‘businessOwnerUser’, as follows.

Problem: custom fields referencing a specific user will fail if that user doesn’t exist in the target.

Solution: this will replace the source ‘businessOwnerUser’ reference with the value from the target’s custom field.

  2. Ability to deploy remaining Omni-Channel Components

For Omni-Channel deployments, QueueRoutingConfig metadata type is now supported by Gearset. However, corresponding PresenceUserConfigUser and UserServicePresence metadata types are not yet available. This means a secondary Metadata API tool (e.g. ANT, Workbench) or other manual steps are needed to complete an Omni-Channel deployment.

Hoping all supported components for API deployment can be included in diffs for releasing all via Gearset.

  4. Output information after CI Job regarding problem analyzer skipping some component deployment

I would like to get some information from the problem analyzer after a CI Job completes as it seems like if it detects a problem during the job it skips deploying some of the components, like user permissions.

  5. Add a "Clone package" button to the Deployment Results page

My workflow is currently to deploy a change, browse to the deployment history to find my deployment, and immediately clone the deployment for another environment. It would be really nice if the clone button were available upon a successful deployment.

  6. Gearset integration with Jira hosted on local Server

It will be great to have Gearset integration with Jira hosted on local Server. Currently, we have only with JIRA cloud.
    Thanks

  7. Ability to pause CI jobs

Ability to pause a CI job. This would allow the CI system to keep our sub environments (stage, dev, beta) updated all the time, but when we want to develop on one of them we could then pause the CI job so our changes don't get deleted. Then once we have deployed the changes to prod we can reactivate the CI job to keep things in sync.

  8. Filter on Columns in comparison screen

On comparison screen, would be nice if we can filter on each column on top of standard string filter

Example use case: Show me Custom object with last modified by me with modified date within this week.

Can be achieved if we can filter on "metadata type", "Changed on", "Changed by" Columns

We’re closing this feature request as the main bulk of functionality (more advanced filtering on a per column basis) was implemented at the end of 2016.

If you have a specific interest in 1st class filtering specifically by date, could you open a new feature request for that?

    Thanks,
    Gearset team

  10. Add support for cloning a deployment

Having already made or attempted a deployment, it'd be nice to be able to deploy the same set of resources to another org (essentially creating a deployment package).

  11. Allow page layout field additions and removals to be selectable

As a user, when selecting page layout changes to include in my deployment, I would like to include only the fields I have added that are different from my destination environment.

Dev environments can be worked on by different people. There are times when a solution requires adding an existing field to a page layout to solve your user story.
At the same time, another user story may also be making changes to that page layout using different fields (removing or adding).

  12. Ability to transfer Salesforce Org Connections to another user

I'm setting up my Salesforce Org Connections using an integration API Salesforce user account. It's a neutral account that isn't tied to any real person. Once these Org Connections are setup, I'm going to delegate them to other users, so they won't have to duplicate effort setting up their own Org Connections. It would be nice to be able to transfer these neutral connections to another user if I happen to leave the company or whatever.

  13. re-add "re-authorize" link on compare view

After refreshing a sandbox, you have to re-authorize the sandbox-org. A while ago, there was a link to do so. Now we have to navigate to the list of orgs to re-authorize there.

Please give us back the re-authorize shortcut :)

We have now added a 'Re-authorize' button to the access token expiry warning message that will typically appear when selecting Salesforce orgs with an expired token on the initial 'Compare and deploy' page.

  14. Support org shape parameter for creating Scratch Orgs

Currently definition files are required for creating scratch orgs but there is no support in GearSet for the use of the sourceOrg parameter as per the sfdx documentation here : https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.sfdx_dev.meta/sfdx_dev/sfdx_dev_shape_scratch_def.htm

  15. Select individual fields in a Data deploy

Having the option to move up only selected fields in a Data deployment is needed. If we are required to move up all fields in each deployment, there are scenarios where our work will get bottlenecked in a sandbox on the way to production and at that point all the deployments will be identical.

  17. Functionality to Data Deploy Active Orders

Salesforce doesn't support the creation or update or standard Order records with a Status Category of Active. This means Gearset is unable to data deploy any active orders. It would be very useful if there was an option for Gearset to temporarily set active orders to a draft status for the deployment or the Order Records and related Order Records, and then set the status back to Active for the final step.

  18. Add link to test results in Microsoft Teams

Please add a link to the test results as part of the notifications sent to Microsoft Teams. The integration with Slack already includes the link so it would be very helpful to have a similar integration in Microsoft Teams.

  19. Report CI validation/deployment status to source control

When a CI job is triggered by a commit to source control, please update the source control system with the result of the build - so that e.g. with Bitbucket we could see the build result from pull requests as at https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucket/check-build-status-in-a-pull-request-945541505.html

  20. Unscramble order of <excludeButtons> tags in Layout metadata

Page Layouts use the <excludeButtons> element to indicate the presence or absence of standard buttons on a layout.

But this element appears in an arbitrary order when retrieved. Unlike other metadata which gets canonicalized by sorting alphabetically.

Gearset could sort these elements to avoid the random order causing random diffs to appear in metadata comparisons when in reality there is no difference.

When Gearset detects that the only differences in your Layout are the result of reordering, and so there aren't any real differences to show you, it will automatically consider this metadata to be unchanged. As a result, this Layout won't appear in the list of changed metadata and will no longer clutter up your comparison results.

If there are any material differences in your Layouts, they will still appear in your comparison results as normal.

And you'll be able to use the Hide reordering checkbox to filter out any immaterial differences, just as you would for other metadata types.
