@nithesh: got a workaround for that one for myself:

When I connect my GitHub account to Gearset as "Linked service" then I hit all the issues with bijillion repos loading up every time and me having to choose. Especially when cloning deployments.

Now, I unlinked my GitHub account as a whole, and instead linked one specific repo under "Custom git repositories". Less trivial setup, but the results are what I wanted. I only Gearset with one repo, and if there's only one Gearset has no choice but to default to that one :D Win!

Having to modify the org/metadata in order to use a Gearset feature isn't ideal -- this would stop me from using Gearset on our live instance. Adding a formula smells like one of those workarounds that I'm used to in the Salesforce-only world, but I would wish for Gearset to have a bit more advanced filters come stock :)

In an ideal world, the uber poweruser tool for me would be to somehow incorporate in SOQL queries for sourcing data. Those are already relationship-aware and can do all kinds of filtering. I'm sure it would be a lot of work to get something like this into a sensible shape/format, but in an ideal world...

Screenshot example of a query I'd use for Jody's example:

This is brilliant, does exactly what we needed! It's pretty cool that you guys get these quality-of-life features in as well -- makes working with Salesforce much less painful.

I can imagine this as a basic whitelist in the section under "Manage linked services" where I get to see my linked github repos. Something like "only show the following repos from this VCS".

I came across this feature request when I realized I have to pick one repo out of 300 on a daily basis. There is also a related https://gearset.uservoice.com/forums/283474-help-us-improve-gearset/suggestions/33786853-allow-default-repo-to-be-set-in-manage-connections which talks about setting a default. I will shortly submit another idea that suggests improvements to remembering the selected repositories and branches better.
