  1. When validation fails, allow option to automatically remove metadata from deployment that was causing failure

It's not convenient when a validation fails, to then download the excel file of the the validation errors, view in separately form Gearset, and then go through the list of metadata I'm trying to deploy and try to uncheck each one that failed the validation. It would be nice if Gearset did that for me.

  4. Better error reporting when CI jobs fail.

Better error reporting when CI jobs fail. Many times I open a failed job and there are no errors reported.

  5. Find/Replace before deployment

Allow a basic find/replace to run against files before final deployment.
Examples: a username that would work in the sandbox that does not exist in production and we need to change it. Or deploying to a packaging org required a modification due to various namespace issues. Other tools have a means to do this in one way or another.

  6. View Grouped Successful, Validated, and Monitor Jobs per Instance in List

Our organization has now done over 13,000 deployments (yay!), but that means when I have to search for past deployments, any searching beyond 10 days as the filter becomes an impossible task because of the sheer volume that has to be searched (boo).

When trying to combine successfully deployed packages into a new package, if I have to change the date range to find a deployment done several months ago, I lose the selected deployments from a more recent timeframe and can't select them all to combine neatly.

If we could see successful deployments by viewing the authorized Org in…

  8. Allow CI deployment notifications to the specific user who made the source control commit that prompted the deployment

We have CI jobs that fire on commits to a source control repository. At the moment, there is no way to email the specific individual who made the commit that prompted the deployment, so we have to notify everyone involved in the project whenever a deployment fails. If we could just notify the individual who made the commit (plus the deployment manager), it would reduce noise considerably.

    Please add this feature.

  9. Allow us to personalize the report generated at the end of the deployment

I want to send the automatic report generated at the end of the deployment to my client. However, I want to personalize it with the logo of my company or add additional text.

  10. Ability to override custom metadata field settings per org

Our code repository currently contains the custom metadata settings from our development environment. When we deploy to production, we either ignore custom metadata in Gearset and manually add any new custom metadata items to production or we manually select the new custom metadata items in Gearset and then manually update the fields in production from the development settings to the production settings.

It would be great if there was something like the Octopus Deployment tool has where you can define configuration settings for each environment. Gearset would automatically update the field value based on the stored setting for the specific…

  11. facilitate selection at the UI of related permissions for selected items during deployment

Our typical use case surrounding related permissions for selected components (application visibilities, class accesses, field permissions, layout assignments, object permissions, page accesses, record type visibilities, tab visibilities) is to need to ensure that if a component is selected, its related permission is always selected also, with respect to a target set of profiles. We suggest you provide an affordance at the UI that selects related permissions en masse rather than requiring individual mouse clicks for each permission selection as at present.

  12. view deployed components live

Show live the components deployed during the running of a CI/CD Job.

    Like:
    deploying class abc.......
    deploying class xyz.......

  13. Display a custom name in Salesforce when deploying from Gearset

When we deploy a change to one of our Salesforce orgs using gearset, the name that is displayed in the "Deployment Status" in Salesforce is an ID. It would be helpful to display the name that we entered in Gearset instead of the ID so that we can easily identify the changes when looking at them in Salesforce

    Hi,

We have recently investigated adding this feature again, but unfortunately Salesforce still don’t seem to support being able to display custom names via the Api (or it’s a feature that’s not well documented). There are requests for adding this ability via:

    https://success.salesforce.com/ideaView?id=08730000000cJdxAAE

If the situation changes then we’ll certainly revisit this. We’ll keep this post opened for other users to also add their votes but it’s currently out of our hands as to when or if it can be added.

    Regards,

    The Gearset Team

  15. allow a method to set up default branches.

I frequently deploy from our on premises GitLab repo. It would be great to have the ability to set the default branch it goes to. It would be one less click for repetitive steps

  16. Deploy SOAP APIs like Permissionset assignment

I am able to deploy profile components and permission sets separately. But the permission set assignment is part of salesforce SOAP API and I couldn't deploy the same using GearSet.
Kindly provide deployment options not only for Metadata API, also SOAP APIs

  17. Add an option to disable deploying the email to case settings in Case.settings

This will allow to deploy Case.settings without getting this deploy error:
EmailToCaseRoutingAddress[Info]: emailServicesAddress is a read only field and cannot be changed

  18. Show the commit message with the Commit ID on the CI History Screen

The CI Job History Screen would be much more useful for me if it was able to show the commit message on the commit that triggered the CSI alongside the source commit ID.

  19. Autodeploy on git branch a successfully manual deployment on org

When a developper deploy a new feature on a sandbox it will be perfect if the deployment can be auto deploy on a branch git (and copy the deployement note, etc).

Today I use a CI job backup on the sandbox but we lost the deployment comment + the updates granulartity.

We could use also the "Clone Button" on the result deployment page but it's lost time to relaunch the comparison and the different step etc while we want exactly replicate the deployment.

  20. When CI jobs fail with "admin operation already in progress", retry the CI job automatically

I was informed in my slack integration today that my CI job failed with an error message of UNKNOWN_EXCEPTION: admin operation already in progress See https://app.gearset.com/failed...

I would like to see Gearset automatically identify this type of error as something different than a metadata error and then retry that CI job 3 times over the next 90 minutes (for example). It would be fine for it to stop after those 3 successive failures.
