  1. Allow sfdx project files for scratch org creation

When creating a scratch org, allow us to select/configure a sfdx-project.json. This will allow for more complicated sfdx project to be deployed, i.e. multiple project folders, namespaces, ... etc.

  2. Store formatted JSON in source control

The SFDC metadata API returns some items types as JSON compressed to a single line. For example, this applies to Wave dashboards (.wdash files).

Gearset neatly expands this to a more readable when visualizing and comparing.

However, in source control Gearset stores them in their original one-line compressed format. As a result, when doing merging and conflict resolution at the source control layer, these items are impossible to handle, as any change (whether technically conflicting or not) results in a conflict from git's point of view.

It would therefore be great if Gearset kept the expanded format for JSON data…

  3. Support for zipping and unzipping static resources in GIT repos.

Add support to automatically unzip zipped static resources when migrating to a GIT repo and re-zipping when migrating to SF. This would allow me to edit my static resource files without having to manually unzip them.

  4. AWS CodeCommit ability to view Repos

Today the ability is not there to allow for viewing multiple repositories within AWS Code Commit. One can view a singular repo and the branches that it contains.

In our instance we have different repos for our various instances. We would like to be able to have the ability to go on level deeper and be able to first choose the repo, then choose the branch.

Hit me up with any questions please.

  5. Create a VSTS Build Task for Gearset

VSTS offers the ability to create build definitions to validate/deploy your code, but Gearset customers don't have much options natively in VSTS to trigger a Gearset deployment. We can scan a code repository for changes every 4 hours in order to do a CI deployment-- but that's about it.

VSTS offers the ability for vendors to create "Build Tasks" for their applications, where you can initiate a VSTS build and get results. This is basically a controlled version of API access to the tool.

    More information:
    VSTS Marketplace - https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/vsts
    VSTS "Add a Build Task" - https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/docs/integrate/extensions/develop/add-build-task

  6. I need TeamCity to kick off a deployment within GearSet when all my auditing constraints are met.

We currently have a deployment pipeline for our .net and Rails environments that utilize VersionOne, GitHub, TeamCity and Ansible to deploy changes into AWS.
Due to auditing constraints we would like to use VesrionOne, GitHub and TeamCity to deploy our SF changes.
Does Gearset interact with these tools or must it stand on it's own?

  7. Notify when PR is automatically created (e.g. back propagation)

Notify the developer when a Pull Request is automatically created. For example when next pipeline stage is reached and a PR is automatically created or when a back propagation PR is automatically created.
A comment in related Jira ticket would be very helpful.

  8. Include the ability to tag/mention someone in the Gearset notes when linking a work item to Azure Devops

Currently, you can post notes in Gearset and these show up in the comments of any linked work item in Azure DevOps, which is brilliant!

The only issue is we cannot leverage the mention/tag functionality, including this would further streamline our deployment process and remove a manual step of having to deploy via Gearset and then manually tag a colleague to update them.

  9. Expand integration for our Pipelines to allow us to enable tools like SonarQube and Veracode to run as part of our DevOps process.

We use tools like SonarQube and Veracode within our company to improve our security and code quality. It would be extremely helpful to have integrations with these tools or an open integration we could configure to work with them. Especially if that could be triggered as part of our pipeline process so this interaction is automated.

  10. Improve Github Authentication and Access Control

While authenticating with Github, GearSet asks for too many access request including read/write access to all public & private repos which doesn't make sense.

Alternate Custom Git Auth does not allow teams to create team wide CI jobs.
And with User - specific CI Jobs, It does not allow us to setup "Validate open PR" jobs.

Please provide better resolutions on authentication and job setup processes.

  11. Microsoft Teams CI Deployment Job Notifications - Add Source Commit

There should be parity with the content included with a Teams web hook notification. With Slack, the Source Commit attribute is included.

With Teams, it's omitted. Please add so this data point is available with Teams. Current output illustration.

A continuous integration run succeeded for SIT Deployment / Validation job for PR #97. The job was a validation. No changes were detected for deployment.

  12. Allow automatic tagging of release commits

I've found it very useful to be able to quickly identify release merge commits from our VCS. Being able to search for a tag in our VCS would allow us to easily compare one version to another without having to use something like git bisect. I'd like the option to automatically tag a commit (you could probably use the release name) would be helpful.

  13. Pipeline PR User interface Details

Currently we can see Jira ticket status when we look at PRs in the pipeline UI it would be phenomenal if we could include additional Jira fields to be seen from Pipeline UI such as Summary or fixversion

  14. Improve Deployment Information in Notifications

I've tried both Email and Teams integrations and the actual information in the message (or attached PDF for Email) is lacking, with only great piece being the branch name.

An option to get advanced details that could provide some of the below (but not limited to):
    - Actual Links - Atleast with Gitlab Self-Managed, we just get a text-based message referencing a merge request.
    - Commits / Original MR - For those deployed via a Pipeline, getting the original MR (our pipeline is dev org > QA > UAT > Staging > Production, with the Dev Org > QA being…

  15. Support Gitlab Application Tokens for CI Jobs

Gearset uses User-level Application Tokens which is great for all user-initiated requests. However, things like automated commits, new branches, etc would be ideal if we could tie to Gearset. Gitlab supports granting out tokens at the Group or Repo-level where we could provide a better and more auditable tracking of Gearset automations

  17. Allow different source control users per CI job

At the moment, my GitHub user is defined at an account level. So that user is the one for all CI jobs.

I may want to have a different GitHub user for each of the projects that I run through Gearset. For example, if we are a consultancy that generally use our own stack, but have to use a GitHub user belonging to a customer on some occasions.

Or (as I do now) I may want to switch my GitHub user from one to another. Today, switching that user will disable ALL OF THE CI JOBS. And I will have…

  18. When merging a Pull Request that is linked to an Azure DevOps work item, indicate the user who performed the merge

Currently, when a PR is merged into an Org (and the PR is linked to an Azure DevOps item), a discussion comment is added to the DevOps item documenting the merge. However, there is no indication in the comment to document the user who performed the merge. The Author of the comment appears to be the owner of the pipeline, not the user who performed the merge. My suggestion is to either make the author of the comment the person who performed the merge, OR in the content of the comments, add a line to indicate "Merged By: [Name of…

  19. Show the status of a CI deployment on the pull request

We use merge-based deployments, so whenever a Github pull request gets merged to /main, a CI deployment job fires that deploys the content of the PR to Production.

The issue is that at the moment all Merged PRs look the same, whether the deployment actually succeeded, or failed. There's no way to tell, or even to follow progress, unless we ask people to open the Gearset job and then look at the deployments for that job etc. which is quite a bit of a faff.

Validation jobs do display on the PR whether they passed or failed, the same feature…

  20. Manual button to refresh repository data

Multiple times in the past, my team has added new files to our git repository and Gearset dose not pick them up as existing in the repository when we do a comparison.

Select your git repo/branch as the source, select the sandbox you want as a destination, the comparison page says "fetching repositories", but it doesn't seem to actually pull the updated data from the branches. My comparison builds fail because the new file isn't included in the comparison. Gearset usually ends up picking them up in ~12 hours but it's a huge workflow blocker when a tool doesn't have…
