For failed CI job runs, develop a way update to the job status
When for whatever reason, jobs can get job stuck in status "Deploying".
The real deployment task is already successfully finished in the org, so I would expect that the status of the CI job would be "Succeeded".
I was assured that in 24hrs the status of the job will automatically reset, but can we have also a way to force an update to the CI job manually?
Note: The "Cancel running CI job" button is visible and clickable, but doesn't do anything with this stuck CI job.

Run all tests only when have apex classes in the package
Hello,
I want suggest an option to avoid run unit tests when no have apex class in the package.
And run all tests when have any apex class in the package.1 vote -
Run only apex test thats related to the Pull request for Validate pull requests targeting the source branch
When we check Validate pull requests targeting the source branch for the Pull request , it runs all the test class irrespective of the package content that being pushed.
It should not run any test class if pushed metadata is only configuration.
It should run only test class if pushed metadata ha class.1 vote -
Automatically identify and run unit tests for deployed classes
When deploying, we have standard options for running tests. It would be great, if we have an option for "auto-specified tests" where Gearset would automatically find test classes for classed being deployed.
It can be done that in Setup, the team will define what type of extension the test classes has and then Gearset would use that key to find matching test classes.
E.g. we have the class "AccountServices" and we have developed a standard set that the test class has extension "Test", so "AccountServicesTest". In the Gearset setup we would set the variable for tests to "Test".1 vote -
Don't auto-select all tests when choosing "Select which tests to run"
When selecting "Select which tests to run" Gearset shows the tests included in the comparison first, but the moment all other tests are loaded, everything is selected.
When choosing this option, the tests included in the comparison should stay on top and selected, and the rest of the test should be added alphabetically but UNSELECTED.
If I'm choosing this option, I probably only want to run some tests. I think it would be much easier this way. Usually you need to run the tests included in the comparison and maybe one or two more.

Change Data Capture
When installing a Integration Platform you have to enable the Change Data Capture in order for the platform to receive notifications on changes. At the moment updates under Setup/Integrations/Change Data Capture can not be deployed by Gearset :-(.

Exclude the subcomponents of the parent Workflow metadata and also exclude list views from custom objects
I want to exclude outbound messages from workflows as we will have different urls in different sandboxes. Same with list views we want to exclude them from custom objects so that we can use CI using gearset for deployments

Cloning deployments: add namespace option
If you are using Gearset to develop for a 1GP managed package:
Your deploys between VCS and dev orgs/scratch orgs DON'T use namespace in the metadata filter
Your deploy from VCS to Packaging org MUST USE namespace in the metadata filter - otherwise, everything in the difference viewer appears as NEW rather than CHANGED (if truly just edited during dev cycle)
So, when cloning a deployment, one should have the option to add the namespace to the clone dialog.
Without this, one has to repeat the Compare step thus losing the benefit of what you had enumerated in a prior…

Move Package Contents to Left Column on Deployment Screen
On the "Summary of Items to deploy" page, the items in the deployment show in the 3rd column. So when you go to choose tests, you can't see what's in your package. Makes it very easy to miss a test.

Allow download of the zip package for failed CI jobs
Download the Gearset constructed package from CI job history when the CI job failed

Ability to override custom metadata field settings per org
Our code repository currently contains the custom metadata settings from our development environment. When we deploy to production, we either ignore custom metadata in Gearset and manually add any new custom metadata items to production or we manually select the new custom metadata items in Gearset and then manually update the fields in production from the development settings to the production settings.
It would be great if there was something like the Octopus Deployment tool has where you can define configuration settings for each environment. Gearset would automatically update the field value based on the stored setting for the specific…

Autodeploy on git branch a successfully manual deployment on org
When a developper deploy a new feature on a sandbox it will be perfect if the deployment can be auto deploy on a branch git (and copy the deployement note, etc).
Today I use a CI job backup on the sandbox but we lost the deployment comment + the updates granulartity.
We could use also the "Clone Button" on the result deployment page but it's lost time to relaunch the comparison and the different step etc while we want exactly replicate the deployment.

When CI jobs fail with "admin operation already in progress", retry the CI job automatically
I was informed in my slack integration today that my CI job failed with an error message of UNKNOWN_EXCEPTION: admin operation already in progress See https://app.gearset.com/failed...
I would like to see Gearset automatically identify this type of error as something different than a metadata error and then retry that CI job 3 times over the next 90 minutes (for example). It would be fine for it to stop after those 3 successive failures.

Approval requests for CI deployments
It would be great if there is an automated approval process to deploy the code to higher environments. If there is a button "Submit for approval", and an email sent out to approver. that we can setup. once approved, a CI job need to run and deploy the changes to next environment.

provide creation of immutable deployment package
I would like a way for Gearset to create an immutable deployment package that can then be deployed to different orgs. This immutable package should contain a copy of the selected objects, list of unit tests to be executed and not allow variation in the deployment except selecting the target org. This would also save time by not requiring a new comparison to run for each target org.

Run test in parallel using scratch orgs
CI job that run all test takes ages. Can we use scrach orgs and test suites to run test in parelell in multiple orgs?

Extend the ability to add and delete in a single deployment to all metadata types
We just came across an issue in which we were deploying an HTML email template that had been moved from one folder to another in the source environment.
When deploying, only the delete happened on the first deploy. I needed to do a second deploy to handle the addition.
While probably not a common case, it's certainly important as the initial deployment reports that the addition was successful.

Filter Notifications for Non-CI Deployments By Successful or Not
When I do a deployment that is not a CI deployment, it can send an email. But the email goes out regardless if the deployment is successful. I would like to be able to send the email ONLY if the deployment is successful.

CI job status "deploying" - add dateTime
UX suggestion:
On the CI jobs page...Currently - you see last run dateTime followed by "deploying...." if a job is currently in progress
Suggestion: Add the dateTime when job started so user can gauge when job should finish and set expectations accordingly
For example, in our shop, a CI job should take around 20 minutes - but if you can;t tell when it started, you can't gauge when it will finish and plan your work accordingly

download the zip package at an earlier stage before analysis has taken place
Download the zip package at an earlier stage before the analysis has taken place.
In big Orgs with multiple teams working the analysis page takes sometimes to load so it would be a great addition if we can download the zip package file and modify it.1 vote
