  1. Allow Package Version Mismatch Bypass for Org Deployments

When deploying a branch to a Salesforce org where there is a managed package version mismatch in the file metadata, it would be nice to be able to bypass this discrepancy as there are occasions where there may be a newer package version in a lower/sandbox org and an older package version in a higher/production org.

  2. Allow custom rules in PMD

PMD support is great, but it would also be useful to be able to have a set of custom rules for my team

e.g. we have a code library of classes that they ought to use instead of coding their own solutions every time. Some of these cases could be spotted by a PMD rule, so it would be great to be able to add my own rules for this.

  3. Expose Salesforce Validation Errors within Github PR

Currently when a PR Validation fails (Deploy CI Job with Validate Target setting turned on), the user can click the Gearset "Details" link to go into Gearset to see the exact error.

Many of our devs use VS Code and Github for their daily work and only rely on Gearset for the CI job. Having them jump into Gearset just to see the error is time consuming and not very intuitive for them. Sure we can find the same errors within the target org of the CI, but at that point the list of validations is large and it's hard…

  4. Offer to push components that passed validation even if some items failed

For large payloads (thousands of artifacts) it can be tedious to try to resolve a few minor issues when 99% of the package will deploy successfully. Having a feature to push stuff that passes validation would be helpful. Included in this in the deployment summary and deployment reports will be a count and list of items that failed validation and were omitted from the package so they can be investigated

  5. Add or ignore parts of XML after the comparison to ignore other users changes

If there are multiple users making changing the metadata in Salesforce and when one has to deploy their changes, it is not possible to pick the changes that are specific to one person, For this we have to go to VS code and use git patch mode to add only the necessary changes for a specific user. If we have an option to edit the xml after the comparision and pick only necessary pieces and deploy it to next org will save time and also switching between multiple orgs. Currently the comparison editor is read only mode.

  6. Static Code Analysis for JavaScript Components

It would be great if Gearset could run static code analysis on JavaScript as well as Apex when deploying Lightning Components.

  7. Suppress irrelevant Suggested Fixes when deploying to git

The problem analysis comes up with a number of Suggested Fixes which may make sense for improving Salesforce deployments, but which are unproductive when applied to git deployments.

For example, the suggestion to remove TASK.WHAT_NAME, or to omit Standard Objects, will only serve to create a git repo which is an inaccurate reflection of the source org. Each time we deploy to that git repo, we will continue to have the same changes to select or omit, since the repo is missing objects and fields from the source org.

When the deployment target is a git repo, all suggested fixes…

  8. Provide the option to skip problem analysis

Sometimes during a complicated deployment I need to try a few different strategies to get things to work. For example, I may need to just send up one piece or set of metadata up first.

The problem is, each time I do this, I have to wait for problem analysis to complete, which takes a couple minutes. Normally during a deployment I do want problem analysis to run, but if I want to quickly send up a single object, I have to wait a few minutes while Problem Analysis runs, and the time waiting adds up.

    Maybe a quick deployment…

  9. Save deployment analysis suggestions and list of test classes

In order to make deployments more repeatable between orgs please allow a way to save the selection of deployment analysis suggestions an d list of test classes with a package. With a large package it can be difficult having to document or remember the same selections used in deployment to UAT org for Production deployment.

  10. Flow equivalent of Static Code Analysis-esque rules

Code Analysis rules run against Apex in Gearset. As Salesforce development continues to rely on Flows as the main tool for declarative automation, it's becoming challenging to catch known inefficiencies, known issues, and discouraged usages. It would really set Gearset a part as a deployment tool to utilize issue detection or run "rules" against Flow metadata to call out potential issues or flows not following best practices to even prevent a deployment or commit from occurring.

Examples: SOQL or DML in a loop, the number of elements for flows (prior to api v57) or general overall complexity, lack of Descriptions…

  11. Allow Owner role to enable delegated org access of other users

If another user doesn't already have delegated access granted and their is a deployment with an issue there is no way for someone else to rollback the deployment and no way to override it.

  12. Add Analyzer to Warn/Remove Named Credentials with Passwords

Currently, attempting to deploy a named credential will fail as a "password is required for the specified authentication protocol".

This can mean manual work if you have a lot of CI deployment jobs to sandboxes or annoyance if you expected to be able to deploy it.

It'd be great if an analyzer existed that would alert/warn the user about it going to fail and unable to be deployed (suggest removing it from the package)

  13. Report Missing Dependencies on Lightning pages

Right now, if you include a lightning page in a deployment and do not include any of the components on the page (list view, report chart, etc), the problem analyzer finds no issue with it.

Even if the report is not in the target or is included in the compare, the analyzer always finds no issue with the lightning page.

It'd be great to have it function like other metadata where it would alert you to missing components in your package (by suggesting to include all referenced list views, reports, etc on the lightning page).

  14. Bulk resolving merge conflicts across multiple PRs (set resolution as Feature or Environment)

It would be great if there was the capability to bulk-apply Feature or Environment when resolving merge conflicts across multiple PRs. I have a few dozens that all need to be set to the same option, and it would be useful to handle this quickly rather than click on each one individually.

  15. Bring back the Suggested Fixes in Problem Analyzer to suggest permissions for fields when moving a new field.

Previously if you selected to migrate a field, Problem Analyzer would suggest the permissions. Now it only shows up on Warnings tab. This forces you to go back to the Comparison and individually find the permissions for each field. It should include these as Suggested Fixes. Additionally, if a field is listed as a Suggested Fix, the permissions for that field should be included as Suggested Fixes as well.

  16. Analyzer: Duplicate child relationship name detection

    Use case -

target org has child object O lookup field F1 with childRelationship = Foo
source org has child object O lookup field F2 with childRelationship = Foo

If you deploy, SFDC tells you that there is already a Child Relationship Foo on O

Analyzer could detect this and warn developer before deployment

  17. Analyzer enhancement - detect missing ContentAsset in CustomApplication

    Given this XML in CustomApplication

    <CustomApplication xmlns="http://soap.sforce.com/2006/04/metadata">
    <brand>
    <headerColor>#0070D2</headerColor>
    <logo>MyLogo</logo>
    <logoVersion>1</logoVersion>
    <shouldOverrideOrgTheme>false</shouldOverrideOrgTheme>
    </brand>

If user forgets to select Content Asset MyLogo, Analyzer should detect.

  18. Offer the ability to set the ignorewarnings flag on an individual "Compare and Deploy" basis.

Would like to see the ability to set the IgnoreWarnings as an override for an individual Compare and deploy, in addition to at the global level. Occasionally, we will do a community deploy, for example, that returns a warning about a page that includes a Dashboard component, with the warning that the Dashboard ID or the Filter ID might not exist in the target environment. Once we see those errors in the validation results, it would be convenient to rerun the deploy, and ignore those warnings. Possibly similar to how the Test execution options are set on the Deploy button…

  19. Remove the "run as specific user" completely from the dashboard prior to deployment (set the options to "Run as

    Add during problem analysis:

Remove the "run as specific user" completely from the dashboard prior to deployment (set the options to "Run as logged-in user"). Deploy, then change it back to whatever you need. Based on https://developer.salesforce.com/forums/?id=906F0000000DCJPIA4

  20. Queue Deployments

    Current State:

A few devs have work in their individual sandboxes that are ready to be pushed to the higher .dev sandbox org

1st Dev deploys work to .dev

2nd Dev deployment fails because org is locked

    Idea:

A few devs have work in their individual sandboxes that are ready to be pushed to the higher .dev sandbox org

1st Dev deploys work to .dev

2nd Dev deployment is queued up, 2nd Dev will be notified via email/browser when queued deployment has started
