Need a Lock to the Custom comparison filters
We need a lock to the custom comparison filters so that the team will be on the same page and only the deployment manager can be responsible for all the deployments

Difference Viewer custom object name: include suffix __c, __x, __mdt, __e, etc
When you look in the Difference Viewer, it is not clear at all by inspection which line of Metadata Type "Custom Object" is a standard object, custom object, platform event, custom metadata type, historcial trending object, etc.
For example, Custom object Foo__c displays simply in the Name column as Foo. This is a loss of information in the difference viewer, especially if one has similarly-named custom object metadata types such as:
Fooc
Foose
FooConfig__mdtthese display as
Foo
Foos
FooConfigThe full Sobject Name gives the user hints as to perhaps other related components that need to be…

When a Picklist Populates, Don't Default to the 1st Value, Default to Blank
When I choose my destination, the system defaults the picklist to the first item on the list. Instead it should populate the list but don't pick a value.
For example, when I choose destination = BitBucket, it then takes a moment to load available branches. It takes a little bit so I go on and start to configure the metadata types. Meanwhile, Gearset populates the list and sets the value to the 1st branch on the list, in my case, feature/helpdesk. It should leave the value blank and make me pick.
This has resulted in me running long-running comparisons, and…

Show # differences found in comparison display
It would be a nice feature to see the number of differences for each item from the perspective of the source org vs target org.

Simple visualization showing Process Builder differences
Assuming the high-vote count Idea for matching on latest version Process Builder flow between source and target (and not by version #) is implemented; make the visual comparison between source/target PB not solely XML.
Process Builder in XML can't be deciphered by a human mind. Hence, a simple indented text-based visualization could be done to make it more readable
- Decision 1.1 Entry criteria 1.2 Immediate actions 1.2.1 action 1 details (XML here OK) 1.2.2 action 2 " " 1.3 Scheduled actions 1.3.1 scheduled action 1 (XML here OK) ...

There's an implicit tree layout in the PB…

Filter out Custom Field differences based on Field Tracking History
If the only difference in the field is that History Tracking is turned on, it would be nice to filter these results out.
Running checks on our app with multiple customers, who all set history tracking differently, can create a lot of noise to filter through to find actual differences.

Support deleting comparison data
Having the comparison history is a great feature, but it would be very beneficial to be able to delete any data in the system, especially when working with a trial account. Part of testing could include working with test environments that you don't want to persist after going live. Also, peace of mind when ending the trial that your data has been removed.

A count of differences could be grouped by type
If the count of differences could be grouped by type/color that would be helpful.
Ex: 20 differences: 5 red, 7 green, 8 yellow. It gives a better sense of how drastic the differences between Source and Target are at first glance.3 votes -
Always sort results by Name (alphabetically) as a second-level sort
If a sort has been applied to any column other than Name, apply a secondary sort to "Name" so the rows always sort alphabetically by Name.
This is most useful when sorting by Metadata Type, I'd like the results to be grouped first by Metadata Type, but then I'd like to see the results sorted alphabetically by their name.
Even if the user is sorting by Changed On, for example - if there are 100 fields all deployed on the exact same date/time (ex. Mar 26, 2025 1:19pm), you might as well sort them alphabetically by Name as well
I…

Customize the columns in the Compare and Deploy view, such as replacing 'Changed By' with 'Created By
Currently we cannot modify or customize the columns in the list view. So if I wish to see the records having created by instead of last modified by then there is no direct option available on UI at 'Compare and deploy'. It is really useful to have the choice over choosing the right columns as per the deployment needs.

Allow Adjusted Column Sizes to Persist in the Comparison Table
Have adjusted column sizes persist once they've been adjusted in the comparison table instead of resetting with each selection. Deploying changes to permission sets could be dramatically streamlined if it's possible to maintain resized columns. If column sizes were set to accommodate the name instead of giving them all the same size, that would also be a huge improvement. The other columns don't include as much info as the name column so it's a waste to give them so much space. It is also inconvenient to caret down in permission sets especially when looking for multiple fields in one permission…

Add the "cloned from" friendly name somewhere on the comparison page.
This suggestion is specific to comparisons that are initiated by cloning a package (that already has been named). Gearset / salesforce takes a bit of time to finish its comparison/validation, so often times I'll open up to 5+ tabs one for each of my gearset deployments. As the comparisons complete, I'll move between the tabs to progress through the steps, but as you can imagine it gets confusing which compare is cloned from which deployment.
Possible ways to display on UI:
When cloning a single package -
e.g.
Apps-87431When multiple packages are combined -
e.g.
Apps-87431
Apps-87431-Step2
Apps-87431-AddFieldUsually,…

Split Lightning Page Metadata Type
Think the Lightning Page metadata type needs to be split into 2 categories. Reason being it is the one metadata type that causes comparisons to run for extremely long times or even crash/time out. This happens because it trying to compare all of the lightning email templates users make. It would be better if lightning email templates were their own metadata type and the lightning page type was actually just lightning pages created for objects.

Allow users to select a default comparison view between 'Permissions View' and 'XML view'.
During comparisons, I constantly have to select the XML view when I click through rows of metadata as it keeps defaulting back to the Permissions View, I don't particularly find the permissions view that useful and I'm also used to XML views, would appreciate if you could give users a choice in a 'default' view to improve experience.

Filter metadata types based on whether org is licensed for that metadata or user permissions for that metadata
Compare 2.0 Metadata types
Why am I seeing Fuel Type and Fuel Type Sustainability Unit of Measure ? Running user needs a special permission set to see these metadata types and I, as running user in Gearset, don’t have this permission set.
This is an example of a general suggestion wherein if the source org/running user isn’t licensed/permissioned for some SFDC metadata, it shouldn’t appear in the (lengthy) enumeration of metadata types
Other examples are Live Chat XXX, PaymentGatewayProvider, SchedulingXXX,SustainabilityUom,SustnUomConversion, WebStoreXXX and many more

new comparison tool issues
new comparison method/view has a few bugs/bad ideas
when selecting a comparison pair & comparison filter on the "saved comparison pairs" page, the chosen filter does not carry through to the new screen & has to be re-applied
once in the comparison screen, there is no "sele3cted" button like on the legacy page. - this is crucial to know where I'm up to with selecting the parts to release.

Add support for OverrideSettings for Vlocity datapacks
It would be great if there is a way to set up OverrideSettings https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.os_build_tool_override_datapack_settings.htm&type=5 for the deployment pipeline. For example, FilterFields can be specified, so those fields are removed from the datapack before being committed to the git repo.
This should help to reduce the number of differences in the compare view when e.g. Salesforce IDs are different or empty attributes are added.

Show Created by and Created Date in Comparison view
I'd like to see created by and created date in the comparison view. Sometimes we have multiple users working on items and I may not be the last to modify something but I am the one to deploy it and if I am the creator, I know what it is named but it makes it hard to sift down if I can only show modified by and modified date.

Show Metadata API version used to retrieve metadata for comparison on comparison result page
It would save time and give confidence if the specific Metadata API version number used to retrieve the metadata was displayed on the comparison results page.

Add the package Name to the page, when the package is Opened
Currently when you Open a package like a draft deployment, the Name of the package does not appear. There is a message in top L-H 'Comparison finished' which is not very useful. Perhaps the package Name could go here. It will reduce confusion as you will be able to tell which package you have open. Thanks.
