  1. Create a way to apply a regex to all currently selected metadata types when building a filter

The regex support you currently have doesn't really allow for complex (multi-match) regex matching, which is probably ok. (this would be something like grep -e 'this' -e 'that')

If I select, say 116 of the 124 metadata types identified, and then have to apply a regex pattern to each one, it gets pretty tedious. Click-paste-apply 116 times, and then 116 again for the other half of the complex match. I'd write a tool to automate configuring a filter in gearset. :)

If I "select all" then deselect the 8 types i don't want, and THEN apply a regex to all…

  2. Allow filtering by Deployment Stage/Metadata Subset during comparison

This Gearset article describes some very logical phases for performing a large deployment:
    https://docs.gearset.com/metadata-deployment-guides/splitting-a-complex-deployment-into-stages

It would be nice if there were built-in comparisons to show each subset of metadata.

For example if you were on phase 1 of the deployment you could filter your comparison to just "Data Tier" and Gearset would pre-filter the relevant metadata.

  4. Stamp a validated package with the username of the person who clicked 'Validate'

Currently, a validated package is created by the owner of the draft deployment package, even if someone else was the one to actually press the 'Validate' button. I would like to have the username of the person who actually pressed validation to be noted somewhere in the validated package for auditing purposes.

This would help us be compliant with processes where we need a record of separation of responsibilites bewteen users.

  5. Add functionality to select the changes in the component for the deployment.

I think it will be very helpful to have a possibility to deploy only some selected changes in the modified component.

  6. Allow Downloading of git diff for Comparison

It can be difficult to evaluate the scope of changes by clicking in the Comparison view on one metadata element at a time to see the differences. We would much prefer to be able to download a git diff and examine the delta as a cohesive changeset.

The user should be able to download the contents of the currently selected tab (All Changes, New Changes, or Selected Changes) in the format of a git unified diff. The user can then use the software of their choice to view the diff.

This will also enable more advanced workflows, as git diffs…

  7. Badge

To have he possibility to have badge that could be added to the readme of a git repo. Display in green if the test classes have been successful, red if error.
The same kind of badge could be used for deployment.

  8. Deployment Notes Persist on Failure

When a deployment fails, deployment notes are sometimes wiped, and it is laborious to retype them - sometimes, I'll copy and paste to Notepad before deploying because I know I'm going to have to type them again. Notes should persist, or at least be configurable, from one comparison run through successful deployment.

  9. Need to move Help Menu between orgs

I recently had to move custom Help Menu items between orgs. Since Gearset didn't support it, I was reduced to manually entering the data in each org since they weren't connected in Change Set paths. I believe the metadata is CustomHelpMenuSectio

  11. test class not captured in deployment history

It would be nice to capture whatever test classes ran for code coverage deployment of classes/triggers in the deployment summary in the Test Results section. You already have a section for this test results so why not add the class names used in the report. We have come across many classes deployed without their appropriate test classes and it is hard tracking/documenting which test classes were used to deploy these as there are no documentations in the class.

  12. Enhance the deployment history search functionality

When trying to gather packages together to combine them for a release, currently it is not possible to first limit by a text search then expand the date range (search hangs due to number of retrievals)

Could there be a way to enhance the history search to enable easier searching?

  13. When viewing comparisons, allow the "Export All..." to utilize existing filters

When viewing a comparison... I have various filters set to exclude certain differences like "Reports, "Permission Sets". It would be nice if you provided an option on the "Export All..." page to either export everything (disregard filters) like it does now, or to respect any filters that currently exist on the comparison so that I only see the values shown on the page based on my filters.

  14. include the Name/ID of the Deployment from Salesforce into the Deployment Report generated by Gearset

Include the name/id in the deployment detail page within Salesforce in the Gearset deployment report so we can trace and match those details to a deployment run in Gearset.

  15. Retain Link to JIRA Tasks When Combining Deployments

Part of our release management policy is for all deployment to be associated with JIRA tasks. I noticed that when cloning individual deployment the association with JIRA tasks is retained. However, when combining multiple deployments, the relationship with JIRA is broken and as a result, we need to re-associate each JIRA task back to the combined deployment package.

  16. Allow retrying failed validations and deployments

I'm often running into the situation where the validation failed either due to transient circumstances in the org, or due to the org settings being incorrectly configured. In this scenario, I would like to simply retry the validation using the same package, and I'd look for that option somewhere here:

    https://app.gearset.com/deployments/validations

Running a new comparison (using the "clone package" option) is unnecessary, takes a lot of time. Also using the "view comparison" option is overkill. I would rather not go through those motions of recalling the comparison results from cache, going through the analysis once again, etc. Because I know…

  17. provide creation of immutable deployment package

I would like a way for Gearset to create an immutable deployment package that can then be deployed to different orgs. This immutable package should contain a copy of the selected objects, list of unit tests to be executed and not allow variation in the deployment except selecting the target org. This would also save time by not requiring a new comparison to run for each target org.

  18. See Continuous Integration Deployments in the Deployment History tab

List deployments resulting from a CI job on the Deployment History tab along with manual deployments.

We currently deploy metadata using both manual and CI jobs and it would be convenient to see all deployments in the same list (for debugging, reporting, monitoring).

Allowing data deployments in CI jobs. So that configurations in third party apps and B2B Commerce can be deployed as part of CI.

  20. Allow notification for long running jobs

Allow a for a notification to be sent when a Continuous Integration job runs longer than N minutes. Most of our jobs tend to complete in under one minute, so if a job runs longer than 30 minutes, being notified would be helpful.
