  1. Allow searching for specific fields in backups

Backups are currently only helpful if we know when an object was changed or deleted. However, we often run into an issue where an object was changed an unknown time ago, we have to spend a lengthy amount of time searching through backups. This is a very, very tedious process as you can't open backup runs in new tabs, so you have to click the link, go back, reset the date filters, and find where you left off. If we could use search criteria to filter data and metadata changes, that would help tremendously!

  2. Allow for Scheduled Comparisons

Like Monitoring Jobs, allow users to choose a source, target, and metadata filter, and schedule when a comparison runs.

The primary goal of this would be time savings. To have that data already retrieved and cached so you can go in, make your selections, and move toward deployment more quickly. Possible applications include recurring deployments, planning out your workday, etc. This addition would be for non-Integration users.

  3. Let the user post Jira comments as internal or customer-facing from deploys

When deploying from sandbox to sandbox, we'd like the comments to post on the tagged jira issues, but would like to keep those comments internal instead of updating our clients. It would be good to have a security selection option when posting comments from gearset to jira.

  4. Allow Record type additions and removals to be selectable

I am not a having an option to deploy the particular picklist values in the Record type level, I would like to include only the values I have added that are different from my target environment.

  5. Schedule deployment option for validation only CI jobs

It could be good that time selection schedule option is available, makes release timetable easier to execute to target org.

Currently user can only execute the pre validated package immediately.

  6. allow selecting of specific picklist values when deploying changes to picklist fields

Essentially would like to be able to cherry pick the values for a picklist value that is being deployed from a lower sandbox. Basically what you did with Precision Layout deployment for page layouts. There are times when we do not want to deploy all of the new/different values for a picklist field.

  7. Add the ability to edit xml

I would like to have the possibility to edit XML files from the comparison view.

  8. dynamic search function after comparison

    dynamic search function

it would be helpful after the comparison to look for multiple components at the same time and not each one individually. for the release we get a list of components example from the developer:

    CustomerAddress
    Customer
    Namec
    Customer_Tel
    c
    ...

I want to include the entire list in one search, and I want gerset to search for each row individually. Example in SQL:

    SELECT * FROM table
    WHERE column1 LIKE '%customeraddress%'
    OR column1 LIKE '%customer
    namec%'
    OR column1 LIKE '%customer_tele
    c%'
    OR column1 LIKE '%customertele_c%'
    ...

    this change would save us…

  9. In Azure Repositories, maintain owner when changing PR to gs-pipelines

When dealing with Azure Repository, the owner of the gs-pipeline PR is always the user used for authentication. Any way to include the original owner would be helpful since the messaging is lost this way

  10. Integrate with Rally as an option in addition to JIRA/ADO

We have customers who use Rally to manage their requirements similar to how many use Jira. Would be great to have this capability

  11. Approve Pull Requests from Gearset

Currently you have to navigate from Gearset to Github using the link from the Pull Request to approve a Pull Request. While functional, this requires going to an external system for an important Git functionality. This also creates a bit more complexity for non-technical users. If we could approve PRs directly from Gearset, that would be awesome!

  12. Setup using Github Enterprise edition although behind a Proxy

I am running a Github Enterprise edition, but have to configure using custom git setup.

Using the Github Enterprise connection setup, I was able to connect; however cloning the repository failed as the http request to list repositories returns the private host name instead of the proxied one.

Clone functionality works when using the Custom Git link; however it limits our ability to make pull requests and it also requires entry of Username and Password instead of OAuth which is a security concern.

Create a feature which allows the hostname initially entered in Enterprise Setup to be used in favor…

  13. On Create Pull Request, auto populate details with commit messages

Similar to the way Bitbucket and GitHub work, it would be nice if the PR description was autopopulated from the commit messages (1 per line)

  14. Make it available to commit custom labels that are part of a managed package

Custom Labels of managed packages do not show up in the comparison because they cannot be changed and therefore are not deployable. However, the (override) translations of these Custom Labels do show up and are deployable. It is possible to deploy & commit the translations but this poses an issue if you commit to git since gearset suggests to leave them out of the commit because they are missing a dependency. If you ignore the suggestion and commit them anyway, they'll be removed the next time the repo cleaner runs. This way, it cannot reliably be kept in git.

  15. Retrieve Metadata into local environment (e.g. using VSCode pluging)

This would make the integration of Version Control and Gearset nicer. Where now user has to go to Gearset deploy to a feature branch, afterwards, go to VSCode pull from the feature branch.

  16. Rolling back deployment made by CI JOB

Currently it is possible to roll back a deployment made by CI Job, though that rollback will only be performed to the specified Org. Hence, other Orgs have to be rolled back individually.

Use case: I have propagated changed from my Sandbox to Staging. An issue was identified that requires a substantial amount of work where that feature cannot be included in the next deployment to production, hence it needs to be removed from Staging. Though, other sandboxes back propagated that feature because they assumed it should work.

It would be amazing if the rollback used Github commits, so the…

  17. Associated Work Items through Commit message

As a Developer, I want to use a unique ID from the work item I am working on
when I make a GearSet commit
So the work item I am working with (like Jira) can have a comment stating it was deployed
and I don't have to manually go to a separate process to update the ticket.

Say my work items are in jira and I am working user story 100.
There is a Jira ID that is unique to that work item.

    When I specify a commit
instead of going through the separate process to find the work item…

  18. Write Deployment Results back to the user's Salesforce org

When setting up a deployment, it would be helpful to capture Deployment Results in a custom object in the running user's Salesforce org. Users would be able to specify a unique reference at the point of deployment, which would track through to the Salesforce org.

Information about the deployment would be captured in a Master record, with data about individual components existing in Detail records.

Org admins would then be free to leverage automation features to map the created records as they see fit.

As a consultancy that tracks our customer requirements in Salesforce, our use case would be that…

  19. Clone Problem Analyzer Templates

With CI jobs, you may need to refine over time your Problem Analyzer templates

However, there is no clone button and you have to carefully set up the new template (as edit-in-place is not supported when the template is already assigned to a CI job - at least that is what the in-app guidance tells you)

    So --

    a) Allow Clone from page app.gearset.com/problem-analyzer-templates
    b) Allow an easy way to assign the new template to all CI jobs without having to do each 1 x 1

  20. Remove/Deactivate new feature for batch comparison

A few weeks ago, Gearset added a new feature to officially make the comparison faster, by showing already results of first batch and add the rest later on.

This feature makes it much more difficult to do comparisons. First of all, I don't see any benefit. I still need to wait for the whole comparison to finish, because I still need to now, what has changed. Why should I look into the first things, when I need to look into it again, after the rest is compared. So before I can select anything, I need to wait the whole time…
