  1. comparison between 3 or more ORGs

i would like to see in a future update about comparing 3 or more Orgs to possibly fine tune checks between production, and multiple sandboxes to make sure everything looks as needed to verify no sandboxes are overlooked for refreshes if needed.

  2. Automatic Validation of Pull request for AWS code commit

Gearset does not support PR validation for AWS code commit. We are cloud-native and use AWS extensively, thus missing out on most important feature of gearset. If you can support it it will be amazing and lifesaver for us.

  3. Allow retention policies to be set on individual core objects

It would be useful to be able to set individual retention policies on core objects, rather than on the entire backup job. This is for an old org (c.10 years), ideally you'd be able to set differing retention policies on different objects; e.g accounts after 7 years but contacts after 5 years.

  4. provide the ability to add tags to branches within Azure DevOps.

Within Azure Devops you can group commits and changes into a release based on a tag. So for a user to be able to add that tag when they are associating a workitem to a commit would mean they didn't have to go into Azure Devops later to add the tag.

  5. Add the ability to run the problem analyzer while on the comparison screen

I originally was going to request the ability to append the items found in problem analyzer to the list of selected components, when going back to view the comparison, but then I thought why not take it one step further, and move the problem analyzer feature to the comparison screen? Then, the items it finds/suggests, the user can add them to the package there, or choose to ignore them.

  6. add the option to either hide source control locations where you do not have a connection, or allow a default SCM connection to be selected.

We only use on source control service, so having to select 'Azure DevOps' before being able to select the repo/branch, is a small step that adds up over time.

Being able to either hide services that you do not already have a connection for, or being able to default to a service, with the ability yo navigate back up and over, as needed. would be welcomed.

  7. Allow Deployment Notes to be editable post-deployment

Allow Deployment Notes to be editable post-deployment. Our team uses very specific notes for auditing purposes, and being able to edit them post-deployment would make that process a lot easier for our teams.

  8. Ability to mark certain branches as your favorite branch so you can pick them quickly

When selecting a branch from source control, it would be great if Gearset had an ability to mark certain branches as favorites so they appear the top of branch selection dropdown.

  9. Enhance Metadata Filter Type Recognition

Our team has struggled learning the Metadata API names of metadata types when compared to what items are called in change sets. One example would be to highlight Weblink when a user searches for Button.

  10. Offer the ability to set the ignorewarnings flag on an individual "Compare and Deploy" basis.

Would like to see the ability to set the IgnoreWarnings as an override for an individual Compare and deploy, in addition to at the global level. Occasionally, we will do a community deploy, for example, that returns a warning about a page that includes a Dashboard component, with the warning that the Dashboard ID or the Filter ID might not exist in the target environment. Once we see those errors in the validation results, it would be convenient to rerun the deploy, and ignore those warnings. Possibly similar to how the Test execution options are set on the Deploy button…

  11. Send email alert when monitoring job fails

It would be helpful if Gearset would notify the user when connection problems cause a monitoring job to fail.

For example, if the error "Error while getting access token due to expired access" occurs, Gearset could send an email to the author of the monitoring job informing them of the problem.

  12. The ability to deploy only certain fields in a record type and not all fields

If we want to promote a change to a single field in a record type, we're unable to because the file is pushed in it's entirety. We'd like the ability to view from list of available changes in a record type by field and select just the changes to the fields we want to promote.

  13. resize column widths on "deployment history" page (no truncated values)

On the deployment history page, the column widths are fixed. If you have a value in the "friendly name" column that's over a certain character count, it gets truncated automatically. there is a tool tip to see the full value by hovering, but if you use consistent naming standards for naming deployment packages, this can result in having to hover over many package (i.e. rows) to find the one you want.

if making the column width customizable isn't possible, then making the "friendly name" column character limit longer would be a good start!

  14. Create a Data Deployment Template for migrating Territory Management (1.0 & 2.0)

I would like to see a gearset defined template for Territory Management in Salesforce. I am definitely in need of this functionality as it seems to be a post deployment step once you deployed all Territory Management metadata.

in ETM 2.0 for example, after deploying the related metadata you need to deploy all related records for UserTerritory2Association Object, this contains who are the users assigned to a territory.

Not a big template but can be a good thing to have as a preset.

  15. Allow 'OR' combination for multiple External ID's in Upsert operation

Gearset allows the selection of multiple External ID's in an Upsert operation as part of a Data Deployment.

However, the system implements an 'AND' combination across all the external ID's specified on the object.
Effectively, ALL external ID's need to be present on the target side for the match to be identified and record upserted. If all external ID's are not present, the system performs an Insert on the target org.

Please allow an 'OR' combination across multiple External ID's. Arguably, this should be the default option, but at the very least, a user needs the ability to decide how…

  16. Empty cache during meta deployment process

Before you deploy but after you start the process it should be possible to refresh / empty cache to make sure that any updates to the meta data in either source or target are updated.

  17. Allow for cross-object mapping with the data deployment add-on

It would be so powerful to allow users to map data to different objects using the data deployment tool. It would allow us to move data efficiently between orgs that don't have completely aligned object APIs and metadata.

  18. Option to retry Deployment after failure

Currently, if your deployment fails you have two options:

    1. Click "back to results"
    2. Click "new comparison"

Going with option 1 means it needs to re-load the comparison and then click next and re-run all the analyzers again which can take a varying amount of time depending on the size of the comparison/deployment.

In situations where the deployment failed, but the fix is to change something in the org manually - it'd be great to have an option to simply "retry deployment" from the failed deployment screen and skip the various screens and re-loading.

  19. Add ability to disable all comments on JIRA tickets

Currently, when adding a ticket number in JIRA connector on a deployment, there is no possibility to disable comments sending on JIRA.

This can be a problem, as JIRA tickets can also be seen by our final users, and this "XXX has deployed the ticket" kind of comments can question them.

  20. Allow exporting of custom filter settings

I have some regexes configured specifically for continuous integration, changing these would likely break our CI process. I would like to be able to export a JSON or YAML (or whatever sensible text based format) of my filter configuration, so I can easily view which metadata I'm selecting and excluding through regex, and possibly commit this file to source control.

This is primarily because our team shares filters, and I'd hate to lose the configuration because of someone mucking up.
